Tips to change eating habits
Learn the following tips to change your eating habits. It all starts with small changes in your routine that...
It’s no secret that, right when we think about or consider a diet or any other option to try to lead a healthier life, we are motivated by something we want. But we also know that we are going to suffer. Obviously changing eating habits is not easy. ** Because? ** Associating a change with suffering is the best way to start failing at it. Ok, well, it’s not easy, I know. But we have to be very committed to our goal if we really want to make a change. Don’t worry, look, let me give you some tips so that you can turn those negative thoughts around and actually achieve that change you want:
- What do you want to change?: Remember that this is not necessarily your goal or the reason for that goal. This is not “I want to be skinnier because I don’t like how I look”, it is rather learning what happens in your day to day life that is generating that feeling in you. It’s more like “I no longer want to eat sweet things when I feel cravings” for example.
- It is not prohibiting something: If you see it as a prohibition, little by little it will become a punishment. It has to be by CONVICTION. That is, a real decision and not a 5-minute one. Give yourself a moment to think about it before jumping into the void. Meditate on it and if you feel overwhelmed with what you find, breathe and remember that…
- The change is gradual, not instantaneous: It is not going to happen magically and it is not going to happen from the moment you decide. Tomorrow you will feel different. Just remember that this is done slowly and you will probably fail someday, but you have to put things in perspective.
- Measure Your Progress and Failures: Every time you manage NOT to eat that sweet thing at the time of craving, record it 🙂 … But also every time you DO eat it. What this will do is it will help give you a REAL idea of how you are doing and why you are seeing the results you are seeing.
- Try to make it pleasurable: I mean, at that time when the craving is going to hit you, if you don’t eat something, you’re going to be having a bad time. If you got used to eating chocolate, start changing it for something more nutritious. Like unsweetened cocoa chocolate or something like that. You have to be able to adapt it to your lifestyle without much difficulty.
- Be very specific: Seriously VERY specific. This will make your goals truly achievable and not impossible things that you will never achieve. Even start with something specific for the day. As “c When I get cravings, I’m just going to give in to one” or something similar. That’s direct, to the point and honest. Cheer up! Keeping this in mind was the difference for me and I know it can be for you too :)
