Liquid calories on Christmas Eve

If we are already full of calories with dinner or lunch, the empty calories from alcohol will not do us any good. Avoid them.

If you want to take care of your diet this Christmas, we suggest you start with what you drink. That is, by the liquids you consume. Well, with control of them you can earn more than you imagine. If we are already full of calories with dinner or lunch, the empty calories from alcohol will not do us any good. Although when we talk about taking care of ourselves we always think about solid foods, controlling what we drink can allow us great achievements. And it is even easier to do than reducing the intake of typical preparations or meals this Christmas. On the other hand, not only is it easier to reduce or avoid certain drinks than certain foods. But these are not as satisfying as solids. Therefore, we can consume large quantities without realizing that we may also be adding many calories without calming our appetite or feeling pleasure from eating them. Reasons to avoid them If you want more reasons to take care of the liquid calories at Christmas dinner, we show you how much it can mean to consume drinks with sugar and/or alcohol throughout the festive night: • Appetizer: if you drink a glass of sugary soft drink or beer to accompany the appetizers, you already have about 90 Kcal. • During dinner: if you consume about three glasses of wine to accompany the Christmas menu and throughout the entire night before the toast, you will add just over 300 Kcal. While if you choose sugary soft drinks you will add 270 Kcal. • Toast: to toast you can reserve a glass of champagne that provides 100 Kcal. Or cider that offers around 80 Kcal in the same quantity. If we add up all the liquid calories we can drink, even if we are moderate during Christmas dinner, we reach easy easily 500 Kcal. And if we think that this is only from the beginning of dinner to the end of the toast, we all know very well that calories can double if the celebrations extend throughout the night. So, clearly we can achieve a lot if we are careful with the liquid calories at Christmas dinner. Not only for its energy contribution. But also for everything that the high consumption of sugars and alcohol can imply in our body. Drink water and stay properly hydrated. We should not neglect our water intake on holidays. In addition, it will help us distinguish between “false hunger” that is sometimes due to being dehydrated. Drink during and between meals, as you would on a normal day. Even if you’re on the Cambridge plan, you can transform any of your milkshakes into something delicious. Don’t be afraid to combine flavors. Or add our water flavorings to accompany your dinner with something innovative, delicious and guilt-free! Happy holidays!
