To wear or not to wear heels
Wearing heels not only causes foot pain, it can gradually damage various parts of your body.
Now that these are days of celebration, try to be more comfortable and wear shoes with a heel less than 5 centimeters. Wearing heels not only causes foot pain, it can gradually damage various parts of your body. According to a study carried out by the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, wearing heels of five centimeters or more, for 40 hours a week and for two years, results in painful foot injuries such as bunions, calluses and decreased ankle rotation. Some of the harmful effects are as follows
- Hip. To avoid collapsing on your heels, your body should push your hips forward, arch your back, and push your chest out. This sexy position generates pressure on the tendons and muscles in a negative way.
- Back. To walk, the spine has to move unnaturally, a process that puts pressure on the lumbar area, causing back pain.
- Knees and feet. Prolonged use of heels can cause injuries and imbalances in posture, as well as osteoarthritis or arthritis in the knees, nerve conditions, tendonitis, bunions, hammertoes, metatarsalgia, or predisposition to ankle injuries such as sprains or fractures.
- Change the center of gravity. The weight of the body shifts to the front of the foot and the ligaments are deformed. So take advantage of these days of relaxation and also allow your feet a well-deserved rest.
