If you want to start a diet without carbohydrates, based on the consumption of healthy fats, you must be very clear about which foods are prohibited in the ketogenic diet. Remember that this ketogenic diet is recommended by several nutritionists for the health benefits they have discovered, especially for weight loss and blood sugar control in diabetic people.

Foods you should avoid

CARBOHYDRATESCereals: Corn, rice, wheat, barley, oats, grains, sprouts, amaranth, rye, millet, sorghum, bulgur, buckwheat, quinoa.

Legumes: Common beans, chickpeas, black beans, lentils, green peas, broad beans, kidney beans. Starch: Potatoes, sweet potato, carrots, cassava. Fruits: Banana, papaya, apple, pineapple, orange, grape, mango, tangerine, fruit juice, fruit smoothies, dried fruits, fruit syrup, concentrate. *Alcohol: Beer, wine, cocktails. Sugars: Honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, turbinado sugar, high fructose corn syrup, cane sugar.

PROTEIN* Dairy:** Low-fat dairy products (good), milk, grated cheese.

Animal Products: Unless organic or grass-fed.

FATTY FOODSoils:** Soybean, canola, corn, grape seed, peanut, sesame, sunflower.

*Processed: Fast food, cookies and cakes, margarines, sweets, soft drinks, ice cream, foods with carrageenan (it is an additive used in processed foods), foods with sulfites (it is a compound that is added to foods to preserve them), wheat gluten, MSG (monosodium glutamate or sodium glutamate is a condiment that is added to food to make it taste tastier, but contains sodium). Sweeteners: Splenda, acesulfame, aspartame, saccharin, sucralose. Condiments: Made with unhealthy oils, those that contain added sugars, “low fat” (good) condiments. And those that you should consume are, among others, red meat, chicken, eggs, nuts such as almonds, fish such as salmon and trout, avocado and many green vegetables.
