You want to be with them. Luisa does not make additional charges to the people she visits but her clients have accepted terms and conditions. She told us, “You have to be very organized when you’re offering a mobile service. I give all my customers a list of products and let them choose them in advance, that’s never been a problem for me. That means I can prepare orders during the day and pack them early in my car. Of course, I always bring extra products just in case. I also carry a bag that has one thing of each product, because you never know when you’ll meet someone (a customer’s friend or family member, for example) who wants to try and also you have to be prepared for them.” What happens with the money? We asked Luisa how she handles collections with her clients: “I invested in a card terminal. Unfortunately, I once had a horrible experience where I was bringing a lot of cash and a person approached me, but I managed to scream and the person ran. But I realized that I could have lost all my profits and that I was putting myself at risk. So I try to have as little cash as possible. I would recommend the same to anyone who is thinking about becoming a mobile consultant. You have to minimize the risks when you are out. Also make sure you are drive carefully and that your car insurance has coverage for you and your business. Tell people where you are going and when you plan to return. I am always in contact with my husband, particularly on my afternoon appointments and I always make sure I have my cell phone with battery.
