10 Herbs to lose weight
Green Tea – Camellia Sinensis
Made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant, green tea was initially consumed in China. It is now considered a health drink by other cultures around the world. Due to differences between gardening methods, harvest times, and processing techniques, many different varieties of green tea are on the market today. Green tea has been studied extensively in recent decades for its potential health benefits, including weight loss. Green tea contains caffeine, which can speed up metabolism and suppress appetite. Researchers from the University of Birmingham found that regular consumption of green tea increased fat loss and decreased fatigue compared to the placebo group. Clinical trial results suggest that green tea may actually increase the body’s ability to burn fat. Despite these claims, the FDA does not recognize green tea as having health benefits.
Senna – Cassia Acutiflora
Native to India and the Middle East, senna is manufactured and sold around the world as a natural laxative. The active components in senna – called sennosides – are responsible for the plant’s stimulant action. While teas, tinctures and capsules contain the dried leaves of the senna plant (in loose leaf or powder form), most natural laxatives are formulated with extracted sennosides. People who use senna may experience immediate weight loss, which is usually the result of water loss. It can be easily confused with fat loss. However, experts have noted that senna is not an effective means of losing fat. It is not approved by the FDA as a way to lose weight. Consuming senna leaf can help cleanse and detoxify the body. Therefore it can accelerate weight loss. When combined with lifestyle changes such as improved diet and exercise. However, others have criticized senna as an intestinal irritant.
Cayenne – Minimum Capsicum
It is primarily used as a cooking spice and flavor enhancer. Cayenne pepper is a key ingredient and has been studied in recent years for its potential as a weight loss aid. Cayenne pepper contains an active ingredient called capsaicin that increases the body’s metabolic rate. In fact it can decrease appetite. As the results of a study presented in Physiology and Behavior suggest, regular consumption of cayenne pepper with meals can reduce overeating behavior and create a feeling of satiety that lasts until the next meal. For those who do not tolerate or enjoy spicy foods, cayenne pepper can also be taken in capsule form. It is sold as a dietary supplement in health food stores around the world.
Rhubarb – Rheum Officinale

Nettle – Urtica Dioica
Native to North Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, nettle has a history of medicinal use in various cultures. A natural diuretic, nettle contributes to weight loss by flushing excess water from the body. Too much water loss is dehydration, so care should be taken before consuming nettle. That said, when used in moderation, nettle helps eliminate toxins from the body. Which potentially improves the body’s ability to lose unwanted pounds naturally.
Dandelion – Taraxacum Officinale
Often disparaged as a garden pest, dandelion has a history of medicinal use and has recently gained recognition as a weight loss herb. The results of a study conducted by the University of Maryland Medical Center indicate that dandelion is a natural diuretic plant that stimulates the elimination of excess water and salt from the kidneys. However, fluid loss is not the same as fat loss. Therefore, while dandelion may cause a short-term loss, the body can gain it back by rehydrating itself.
Aloe – Aloe Barbadensis
A popular home remedy for burns and skin irritation. Aloe (also called aloe vera) is associated with weight loss. When used in combination with a diet and exercise regimen, aloe is reported effective as a weight loss aid. According to experts, aloe is most beneficial when consumed regularly as an integral part of a diet low in sugar and fat.
Algae – Algae
Consuming seaweed in the morning can increase your body’s ability to maintain a healthy weight. According to research carried out in Holland, seaweed can increase the feeling of satiety and reduce appetite by imitating the effects felt by the consumption of foods rich in calories. The weight loss benefits of seaweed are attributed to algae. A fiber-rich substance present in most types of algae. The variety of seaweed most associated with weight loss is wakame (also called brown seaweed) which is used to enhance the flavor of traditional Asian dishes. The results of a recent Japanese study indicate that fucoxanthin (an essential component in wakame seaweed) decreases fat accumulation and has the potential to be used pharmaceutically for the purpose of weight loss. Fucoxanthin contributes to weight loss by directly affecting abdominal fat. Which decreases the chances of developing obesity and reduces unwanted fat in individuals. Cinnamon – Cinnamomum Cassia It is commonly used as a flavoring and spice, but cinnamon is also recognized as a weight loss aid. According to research conducted in Scandinavia, cinnamon reduces insulin levels. Which produces sugar in the blood and prevents the conversion of sugar and fat. By lowering insulin, cinnamon can also help the body feel satisfied throughout the day. The effect of which is the reduction of anxiety and the suppression of tendencies towards overeating.
Garlic – Allium Sativum
Consumed around the world as an important addition to many traditional foods, garlic is packed with health benefits. An important advantage of regular consumption of garlic is weight loss. The active components of garlic have been found to trigger the release of hormones that naturally increase the body’s metabolic rate. According to studies conducted by Israeli scientists, garlic can prevent fat accumulation. It also accelerates the feeling of satisfaction from food.
