February 14. This is a month dedicated to red and pink cards, bouquets of flowers, and bright, lush heart-shaped boxes of chocolates that, for some reason, symbolize love. When expectations are so high, it’s easy to feel disappointed and start making a mistake that could cost you the relationship or maybe just have a really bad time: comparing ourselves to others. Forget the consumerist ways of showing love, try directing all that loving energy towards YOU. Celebrate what you love about yourself and what makes you unique. When we love each other with all our heart, it is easier to love someone else. Especially without the pressure of expectations. If this seems ridiculous to you, just start with something small. Treat yourself kindly by trying to be aware of any negative self-talk and try to change your internal dialogue to something positive about yourself. Also think about everything you have around you and try to enjoy the things that really give you pleasure.** If you’re not going to be able to take time to relax during the day, take some time before bed. Take a hot bath, do some light stretching or yoga, listen to YOUR favorite music, light a scented candle, read a book, or watch your favorite movie. It’s time for you to fall madly in love with yourself. Also, don’t forget to eat something delicious. These dates are going to be full of sugar, sugar and more sugar. Try to make the desserts you are going to eat:
- Organic
- Comprehensive
- Sugar-free (preferably with Stevia)
- Dark or cocoa chocolate, avoid milk chocolate. But let everything continue to be delicious 🙂 Happiness comes, first of all, from you.
