Everyone knows that the selection of foods you eat can make all the difference between you gaining weight or losing weight. But first, a little history… History During the different stages of its evolution, humanity has consumed tens of thousands of different species of animals, fungi and plants. This means that the human body, after hundreds of thousands of years of evolution and adaptation to a wide variety of foods, suddenly (in the space of a couple of centuries) begins to consume 70% of its entire diet based on these 3 types of foods. So, what would be an amount of wheat, soy and corn that could be considered healthy to consume? Taking into account the hundreds of thousands of years of evolution of the human race and studies on the diet of our ancestors, it has been determined that the amount of wheat, soy and corn that should be consumed would be in the range of 2% to 6% of total daily calories. Currently, we are consuming more than 15 times the amount to which we are adapted to! The human digestive system was never designed to consume these substances in such high quantities. It can take an organism tens of thousands of years before it can adapt (evolutionarily speaking) to its environment. Human beings cannot be expected to change their eating habits almost completely, to a diet for which they are not genetically adapted, without having negative consequences on health. Grains and Cereals Don’t forget that these high amounts of wheat, soy and corn in the modern human diet is a recent phenomenon originating from the multi-trillion dollar cereal, seed and grain industries (and as you might guess, the main ones are wheat, soy and corn). If these grains, cereals and seeds are present in our diet, it is not because they are good for our health, but because they are cheap, easy to produce and generate billions of dollars for agri-food industries. It’s all about money… NOT your health! This leads to countless health problems, including countless food intolerances, allergies (especially intolerance to the consumption of gluten present in wheat) and current overweight problems, so common these days. These foods, full of carbohydrate-based calories, are one of the main obstacles to losing weight. Ultra-processed foods To this we must add the amount of soda or other drinks full of HFCS that many people consume on average every day… This is a lot of calories from a single corn-based derivative! And don’t think that “diet” sodas are the solution to losing weight: these drinks with artificial sweeteners can make you fatter than standard soft drinks. Even ketchup, pasta, and dozens of other foods contain high amounts of corn syrup that make you fat and sabotage all your efforts to lose weight. On top of this, due to current economic factors (especially with the artificially low prices of corn and soybeans) most livestock are now also fed grains (mostly corn)… Again amplifying the amount of these foods that pass through the food chain and end up in the human body (from a biochemical standpoint).
