Don't go to the supermarket hungry

The most important thing is not to go to the supermarket hungry. We tell you the results of several studies that explain why.

We continually have to make trips to the supermarket to stock up on food. Having so many foods, with different nutritional contents on hand, can be dangerous for someone who is on a diet. We give you a tip: you don’t have to go to the supermarket hungry. The most effective way to control what you are going to buy or not, is to make a list. This way, you will avoid buying things you don’t need and you won’t forget anything that is missing in our pantry. But the most important thing is to avoid going to the supermarket on an empty stomach. You may think it’s because if you’re hungry, you’ll take every free sample you’re offered or buy food you don’t need. But the reality is a little more complex. Research A group of researchers from the Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition in Nebraska conducted research on this matter. In the study, 68 adults were observed who remained without food for 5 hours. Subsequently, half of the group was given a snack and everyone was asked to shop for food in a supermarket simulator. As a result, it was found that those who had fasted had bought an average of 8 high-calorie products, while those who ate the snack only bought 4 products. In addition, they carried out observations in real supermarkets, where they realized that the purchase of products with high calorie content increased from 1pm to 2pm. Similarly, Cornell University, New York, in a study similar to that of the Center, similarly demonstrated that people who had not eaten for longer periods of time tended to buy less healthy foods. So next time you go to the supermarket, don’t forget it: eat a healthy snack, make your shopping list and stick to it. Always avoid going to the supermarket hungry.
