You have to develop incredible discipline and willpower. So today I bring you 7 tips to overcome cravings.

Why do we eat junk food or choose the worst option on any menu? There are many answers to this, from the scientific to the psychological. Today we are going to focus on cravings. These are generally not generated little by little. There is almost always a “something” that triggers them. And once this starts, it is very difficult to resist. You have to develop incredible discipline and willpower. So today I bring you 7 tips to beat cravings.

  • Know that thing that triggers your cravings. Before you can beat those cravings, you need to figure out what the things or situations are that trigger them. Do you crave junk food when you’re bored? Stressed? Tired? Some factors are universal, but knowing which ones stick with you the most will help you discover what to avoid.
  • Get enough sleep. Sleep is crucial to losing weight. When you stop doing it, your metabolism slows down and your body wants to retain fat.
  • A good breakfast. Breakfast is truly the most important meal of the day. Activate your metabolism. Breakfast eaters also consume fewer calories throughout the day than people who skip it.
  • Don’t cut too many calories. You may not be seeing the results you expect because you are not eating ENOUGH! Weird right? When your body doesn’t get enough calories, it wants to conserve the calories it does have.
  • Fill yourself up with fiber and protein. Meals rich in fiber and protein will keep you full for hours, decreasing cravings and unhealthy snacks.
  • Eat slowly. Take your time when you eat. When you scarf down your food, you can’t immediately tell when you’re full and you’ll likely end up overeating.
  • Vegetables first. Eat vegetables in your first dish. Find a vegetable you LIKE and prepare it as a first course. Vegetables are rich in fiber, so they fill you up and lead you to eat less unhealthy foods.
