3 mistakes in the bathroom that can make you sick
Germs and bacteria aren't the only worrying parts of the bathroom. There are bathroom mistakes you make that can put your health at risk. Get to know them
Germs and bacteria are not the only worrying parts of the bathroom. From how you clean yourself to how you wash, the bathroom mistakes you make can put your health at risk. There are quite a few things that can go wrong during your trips to the latrine that can increase your risk of infection, irritation, and illness. Here, three bathroom mistakes you may be making.
- Sitting in the bathroom for too long Checking your emails or watching this video while doing your business is one thing. But if you’re really pushing yourself, you could be risking hemorrhoids. If you have difficulty defecating, get up, walk, and come back. If it happens too often, you may need more fiber in your diet.
- Too much cleaning When it comes to cleaning, less is more. Cleansing too much can irritate the perianal skin and cause small abrasions that trigger inflammation and itching. If you need more than a few cleans, consider switching to damp toilet paper or unscented wipes.
- Cleaning in the wrong direction Many women make the mistake of cleaning in the wrong direction. Always clean from front to back! Wiping from back to front can carry bacteria from the rectum to the urethra and increase the chances of a urinary tract infection. An infection of these is recognized by pain or burning when urinating, pain in the lower abdomen, the need to urinate quite frequently, chills, fever, sweats and pain in the bladder area, among others. And if the bacteria spread to the kidneys, the person may feel chills, back pain, fever, nausea and vomiting. F If one of these occurs, the person must go to the doctor to treat the infection because otherwise it could cause permanent damage to the bladder and kidneys. Think about these mistakes the next time you are in the bathroom and don’t make them to avoid infections and illnesses.
